UACC Multicultural Music

The purpose of this blog site is to provide UACC students with information concerning the multicultural music they will be performing throughout the year. The UACC will perform approximately 6-10 pieces from countries other than the US and in languages other than English. This UACC blog site will contain translations of mulitcultural music, pictures of the country from which the songs originate, links to websites with pertinent information about the original countries, and much more.

Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho

As we examine and discuss African American culture we will be working on and performing many spirituals. The song "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho" is a spiritual. It is not a spiritual that originates from slave times like "Wade in the Water" or "Swing Low Sweet Chariots." It was written in the early 20th century. The arrangement we will be performing is by Brad Printz and it will feature spoken sections as well as solo performers.
